Practice Cancelled May 2, 2013

Practice will be canceled tonight due to the unseasonable snow and cold.

April 22. 2013
Based on the forecast which includes snow and unusually cold temperatures, we are cancelling practice on Tuesday, April 23 for all three teams.

April 17, 2013
After much deliberation and consultation with the other coaches, we are cancelling practice tonight in light of the virtual tsunami hitting West Des Moines today.

April 11, 2013
As much as I hate to do this, especially considering our competition this weekend, practice has been canceled for all three Valley lacrosse teams.  The fields were is sketchy condition last night and the continuing rain and dropping temperatures indicate that they will be worse/unsafe tonight.  The forecasted snow doesn't help...

JV and varsity players:  I need you to turn your pinnies into me on Saturday.  I will drop them off to the middle school team after our game. 
Your new pinnies should be en route; the Y made the payment, but I have not received a response to my follow up yet.

Game schedules - Note JV plays first on both Saturday and Sunday.  JV players need to arrive an hour and a half early to set up.  Varsity will tear down.
Middle school players are encouraged to attend Saturday's games.
High school - all four games are at Southwoods Stadium
  • Saturday: Prep at Valley
JV 2:00 pm
Varsity 3:30 pm
  • Sunday: Grand Rapids (MN) at Valley
JV 9:00 am
Varsity 10:30 am

Middle School - Both games will be on Sunday at the East Field at Creighton Prep High School.

Girls Lacrosse

The Waukee Girls Lacrosse Club is currently seeking new and experienced players.  If you are a girl in grades 8-12, or if you have a sister, cousin, girlfriend, etc that would like to play lacrosse, there is no better time than the present!

The team competes against competition from around the Midwest region, including Nebraska, Kansas, and other Plains states.  Practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 5:30 pm at Waukee Middle School.

Costs for girls lacrosse are low (compared to boys lacrosse) with the only equipment expenses being a stick, goggles, and a mouth guard.  Team dues are $100 per player and the standard US Lacrosse high school membership ($35).

2013 Youth Lacrosse Program
Presented by the Walnut Creek YMCA
& Central Iowa Lacrosse Association

We’ll help your child have fun and learn America’s oldest sport in our new lacrosse league.  We will focus on teaching your child the skills and fundamentals of the game, as well as bringing team work and character building through friendly competition.  Your son or daughter will get equal playing time and opportunities in 8 weeks of practices and games.

 

Age Divisions
4th-6th grade                        7th-8th grade               Boys and Girls Welcome!

 

When
June 10-Aug. 1 with a break the week of the 4th of July. (Practices on Mondays between 5:30 and 7:30, Games on Thursdays between 5:30 and 7:30)

 

Where
Practices and Games will be held at Jordan Creek Elem. soccer fields

 

Fees
Member - $70 per child
Non Member- $90per child

 

Jersey 
$15 if you don’t have the current version from other YMCA youth sports

 

Equipment
You will need a stick to play. We will have a few sticks for sale on opening day otherwise you may purchase your own.  We have some sets of equipment that will be available to check out.

 

Additional Info:
Our teams will be coached by the Valley High School Lacrosse staff, Varsity players and parent volunteers.
